Can someone please help me eith finding this movie?

I saw it quite a time ago, but don`t know the title of it. The plot went smth like this - there were two young people, who decided to get married. the man was a lawyer. soon afterwards his wife got preggos (I think that she told him about that when she went to his office and gave him a page with something like if one person meets another and they fall in love and get married, it results in three persons or smth of the kind). Also, they celebrated New Year in the movie - I think that there was this ball and everybody wore hats with 1939 printed on them, if I`m not mistaken. It`s a very old movie, truly. Also, there was a snow storm and a plane crashed and the pilot had some kind of message to hand to the man. I know, I know, it`s pretty chaotic, but maybe someone knows a movie which plot went something like that? It was a black & white movie.
