If you have cancer, cant you get implants?

Well I certainly don't have cancer, but I was watching a movie today and Adam Brody was in it, and he fell in love with his neighbor or something? I don' remember what it's called but... if you get your cut off, and your free of cancer, and there are no cancer cells left, cant you just get implants? Or is it a risk of getting cancer cells again? Or you just won't have any left.. lol.
