How bad is the recoil on a 30-06 rifle for a 11 year old?

I started with a 30-06 at 12. Not too awful bad, but a little. Good news is that Remington is offering a light recoil load in it. Shouldn't kick any worse than a 243. Use those for range sessions, then I promise a 11 year old won't notice the recoil when firing in a hunting situation with a full power load.
