What happens when you are being held in contempt of court and still refuse to follow original court orders?

Ex was held in contempt of court and served with a hearing date, yet still refuses to release the kids per court order. The attorney said to just wait and let the judge rule against her, again, since she still refuses and she will most likely lose part of her custodial rights since it was barely a year ago when custody was originally settled. He said there were things they could do to enforce the matter, but he didn't elaborate. The court date is a month out and I can't bare not seeing them for that long. She said she knew she was being held in contempt for keeping the kids so she is just going to wait until court is settled to let me have them again. I'm getting frustrated at this point, but not showing it to her so she has nothing to use against me. The reason she's in this situation is because court was already settled and she is refusing to let me have the children per the court order and she said she just doesn't care and that if she's already in trouble, why should she try and justify it now? At this point I don't think anything is going to make her do what she doesn't want to do because her answer to the judge last time was she was their mother and they needed her more and I was remarried and I just needed to move on with my new family and let her move in with her boyfriend and move on since she wanted her fiance to be their father now. Just cause we're divorced doesn't mean they are any less my kids and no one else is going to be a daddy to them, they know who their daddy is.
